It is not known when will Sonya Deville return, but her partner Chelsea Green hopes to keep the belts until she is back. Meanwhile, former WWE Intercontinental Champion has hinted at returning to the WWE to help Chelsea Green out with the title defense.

In a recent interview with a popular WWE podcast, this wrestler simply stated he is available if WWE calls out help for Chelsea Green with title defense. Interestingly, this wrestler is Cody Rhodes’ best friend back from Rhodes’ training days in 2007.

Matt Cardona hints at his availability for WWE

Speaking to James Stewart on 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Stick To Wrestling podcast, Matt Cardona revealed his plans with WWE and helping Chelsea Green with the tag team titles. Cardona is the husband of WWE women’s tag team champion Chelsea Green since 2021. Hence, Stewart jokingly referred to him as one-half of one-half of the champion and asked if he would defend the titles ever under free bird rules.

Cardona responded by saying “I don’t know the deal [on free agent rules] with that. I mean, I am a free agent. I am the agent, so if WWE needs me on Monday Night Raw, uh… to help Chelsea with those titles I’m available.”

Cardona being a free agent is available to wrestle for any promotions. His involvement in the title defense might be limited only to outside interferences, as WWE is not high on inter-gender matches.

Hence, Cardona was confident about declaring himself available for the Monday Night Raw program.

His involvement might help elevate the title as he is doing a good job in the Indie circuit.

Cardona carries the WWE Women’s Tag Team title at independent show

Matt Cardona, formerly known as Zack Ryder was seen donning the WWE Women’s tag team championship belt (a replica) at his recent match against Tetsuya Endo in Tokyo, Japan. He was battling for the DDT Universal Championship at their DDT Wrestle Peter Pan 2023 event and won the bout to add another belt to his collection.

Cardona has added many belts to his collection since parting ways with WWE in 2020. But the most unique belt he has in his collection is the WWE Women’s tag team belt.

Matt has been part of Warrior Wrestling, House of Glory, One Pro Wrestling, and independent staple GCW. His work as ‘Indie God’ in the independent circuit has seen his stock rise. It would be interesting to see if WWE tries to cash on the idea and the buzz of Cardona.
