“I’m Beating Him” – Former Kliq Member Reveals How Triple H Tried to Bury CM Punk in Their 2011 WWE Rivalry

Not only is CM Punk famous for his in-ring skills, but also his mic skills. Well, the correct term should be ‘infamous’ as he was known to get under the skin of many. This includes WWE’s current Head of Creative, Triple H. However, Punk is not to be blamed as he happens to be one of the edgiest stars in the promotion, but this cost a former Kliq member a match. Kevin Nash, who was known for his time in the Kliq stable, revealed how he lost a match against Punk as the latter “got under Triple H’s skin” quite effortlessly.
Why Nash and Punk never fought
Kevin Nash was famously known as the on-screen ally of The Game back in 2011. At the 2011 SummerSlam, Punk defeated John Cena, making him the WWE Champion. While Triple H was the guest referee for the fight, Punk was ambushed by Nash on the orders of Triple H and then was immediately defeated by Alberto Del Rio, ending his title reign immediately. This was supposed to give birth to an angle in which Punk was going to confront Nash at the Night of the Champions PLE in 2011. However, as stated by Nash, the plan was changed and instead Triple H decided to face Punk mano-e-mano at the PLE.

Cut to 2023, Triple H had posted a photo with CM Punk. This hinted that the two are getting along pretty well now. However, Nash is still not able to digest this fact. On the latest episode of his podcast, Kliq This, he revealed how Triple H wanted to teach Punk a lesson. He said that since Paul Levesque took charge of things, he seems very different as compared to back in the day.
Nash then gave the example of how different Levesque was from the incident involving CM Punk. He said, “When I was supposed to wrestle Punk, he got under Triple H’s skin so bad. Paul just came up to me and said, ‘I’m going to beat him.” Even though the match card was ready, things changed and Triple H faced Punk and even defeated him.
It could be possible that Levesque decided to leave things in the past. At the media scrum following the latest Survivor Series, he shared his thoughts on the Second City Saint.

Punk’s return has added the cherry on top of an already amazing year for WWE. According to data shared by Levesque, Punk and WWE were hot topics over social media. Apart from that, the viewership numbers jumped by 29% for the fallout episode of Monday Night Raw. The 2023 Survivor Series also saw a high footfall which might be due to fans expecting Punk’s return. While all this is considered, do you think Punk and Triple H might feud once again since he is back?
