The WWE Hall of Fame is the pinnacle in the world of pro wrestling. Apart from the inductee, there are many more whose sacrifice may lead to eventual glory. It may be a family member who provides unwavering support. Or a fellow performer who has a large hand in the success. These peers are sometimes mentioned in the speech, but sometimes they may be forgotten.

The Undertaker retired in 2020 after an illustrious career. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame last year. The Phenom’s speech, after receiving the prestigious honor, notably had many absentees. The one whose absence shocked everyone was Mick Foley. However, he gave full credit to Taker in his speech during the 2013 Hall of Fame ceremony. Foley recently discussed The Deadman’s massive impact on his career.

Mick Foley discusses The Undertaker’s massive impact on his career

He said in the A&E WWE Rivals Season 2 Episode 2, “Over the years, I have often wondered where my life would have gone if Undertaker and I did not crossed paths when we did in April of 1996. I’m not in the WWE Hall of Fame without The Undertaker. I’m not in the position where I could continue to wear sweatpants and a fanny pack in public.”

“I’m not in a position where I can be a guy with one ear who doesn’t care what other people think about it. I look back at that moment in time and I’m just so grateful that our lives were entwined,” added Foley.

The 3-time WWE champion undoubtedly attributes Taker for his induction into the elite list. The two lit up the 90s through their iconic rivalry.

Both men are equal parts of each other’s legacy

Without Taker, Foley’s career would have never reached insurmountable heights. And the humble Foley accepts this himself. The opposite of that is also true. The Deadman is rightly considered one of the all-time greats. But that would not have been possible without an able foe like Foley challenging his greatness. The duo is a part of each other’s legacy and their rivalry is sure to stand the test of time.

While The Deadman may have missed mentioning the Hardcore legend in his speech. Even he would acknowledge the impact Foley had on enhancing his legacy. Taker himself apologized to legends for failing to mention them at the Hall of Fame. He did mention his iconic WrestleMania battles with Shawn Michaels and Triple H.

The two had many memorable matches with their 1996 Buried Alive match and the 1998 Hell In A Cell match standing out. Foley and Taker’s feud has a different place in wrestling history. Not only because of its longevity, but its ability to always come up with something new.

Mick Foley credits all his successes to The Undertaker. Including his 2013 induction to the WWE Hall of Fame. If his speech did not make the point clear, his recent remarks pretty sure did. And even though Taker did not include Foley in his speech, it does not take away Foley’s contributions to his successful career.

Do you think The Undertaker should have mentioned Mick Foley in his Hall of Fame speech?
