‘I’m The One’: Former WWE Executive Takes Credit For Luring The Undertaker Out of WCW To Take Vince McMahon’s Offer

The Undertaker is arguably the greatest WWE superstar of all time and there is no denying that fact. Even though he has retired now, The Phenom is making huge money for WWE by making appearances for signings and fan meets hosted by the company.

However, The Undertaker has wrestled not just in WWE. Before WWE, he wrestled for other companies like USWA, a short stint in NJPW, and also in WCW. The Undertaker’s previous gimmicks of The Punisher and “Mean” Mark Callous are famous among the fans.

A few months back, WWE Legend and current AEW Commentator Jim Ross appeared for an interview with talkSPORTS. He shared how he convinced Mark Calaway to take WWE’s offer.

Ross said, “Same thing with The Undertaker. He was The Punisher or something like that. I got to liking him, we brought him to Atlanta and then when it came time for his contract to be renewed, Ole Anderson was the booker and Ole wasn’t real high on Mark – which I could never understand – it might be the old wrestling thing where if it’s not their idea…”

He added, “So I’m the one that encouraged Mark to take McMahon’s offer and leave WCW. It worked out pretty well for him.”

As Ross said, taking the deal of Vince McMahon really worked for The Undertaker. He had a long 30 years iconic career and was on the top of the card. Mr. McMahon inducted the Phenom into the WWE Hall of Fame this year in April and got a standing ovation at the ceremony.

A new career path for The Undertaker

The Undertaker is the greatest WWE superstar to have stepped foot in the squared circle. However, next month, The Deadman is going to step foot into a new career. Taker will have his own show named ‘The UNDERTAKER 1 deadMAN SHOW’. It will debut on Friday night, July 29, at Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville, Tennessee.

Taker shared on his Twitter, “Stories from a 30+ year career, life on the road, and performing in front of the best fans in the world. Tickets on sale Tuesday! ⚱️#SummerSlam @Ticketmaster @WWE”.

In the show, UNDERTAKER 1 deadMAN SHOW will feature The Phenom in an intimate setting, sharing never-before-heard stories from his Hall of Fame-awarded career and taking questions from the WWE Universe in attendance.
