INJURY UPDATE: Top SmackDown Superstar Forced to Withdraw Out of WWE Royal Rumble 2022

The road to WrestleMania has officially begun with the announcement of the WWE Royal Rumble the fans are in for a treat. However, the WWE Universe has suffered a setback when Sasha Banks announced she will be out of the PPV because of an ankle injury.

However, there is one more SmackDown superstar who will miss the Rumble this year. King Xavier Woods recently revealed in an interview that he will be away from the PPV because of an injury.

Woods suffered a torn plantaris, at last week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown against the match between The New Day and The Usos.

The former United States champion recently appeared on ‘G4’s Attack of the Show‘, where he confessed he suffered an injury in his calf while delivering a DDT to Jey Uso.

“Yeah, so I was jumping in the ring to do a DDT. I spring off the bottom rope and grab the guy and then run his head into the ground hopefully shattering all the bones in his body so I can pin him and win the match, and make more money. So I did that part still but in the process — No, just jumping off the rope, so nothing like — not a shark attack, not a steel chair hit, not a machine gun, not a machete. I just jumped.”

Later in the interview, Woods revealed that this injury will take 4 to 6 weeks before he is fit to compete. Hence, confirming that he will miss the Rumble this year.

What is next for Xavier Woods?

Every member of The New Day has tasted the sweet pie of becoming the company’s champion. However, things are different with Woods, he is currently King of the Ring.

However, he is nowhere near the title picture of the company. The last time he was a bit close to a singles run was when he faced WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
