14-time World Champion Randy Orton is rumored to return for Survivor Series. He will join WWE after suffering a back injury in May 2022 when he lost the Undisputed Tag Team title to The Usos. The news of his return also confirms that he is determined to wrestle more despite doctors telling him otherwise.

Since Riddle is out of WWE now, Randy Orton might return as a singles superstar. But there are more rumors that his return would also be accompanied by a major title run. However, given the circumstances at WWE, is this possible?

On the Keepin’ It 100 official podcast, former WCW wrestler Glenn Gilbertti, also known as Disco Inferno, expressed his opinion on who the potential candidate to dethrone Roman Reigns is. He stated that Gunther was not the one, and took the names of Cody Rhodes, Bron Breakker, and Randy Orton as potential candidates.

Inferno said, “I don’t think he’s [Gunther] the guy. That’s what I’m saying… Right now you would think Cody [Rhodes], Randy Orton if he comes back, maybe like Bron Breakker if they bring him in and give him a push, you know, those are the guys I would think are on the radar to like beat Roman.

The wrestling world ran the news over social media as rumors of Randy Orton’s major title run spoilers, given that he returns. However, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful recently confirmed that such is not the case. He said, “In a rumor killer, there was a rumor going around wrestling Instagram pages that Randy Orton was slated to win a major title after his return, but we’ve been told that hasn’t been broached.

So, that tells us Randy Orton will return to WWE after his 18-month break, but any major championship run seems a distant possibility. However, despite this, Randy Orton’s return to Survivor Series is a long-awaited one after his surgery and rehabilitation.

Randy Orton to return as the 5th baby face at WarGames

It was reported earlier that Randy Orton will make his much-anticipated return to the WWE ring at Survivor Series. He will join Team Cody as the fifth member of WarGames, a team that consists of Jey Uso, Cody Rhodes, Sami Zayn, and Seth Rollins.

Facing Team Cody would be The Judgment Day, which would consist of Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio, Damian Priest, and JD McDonagh. There are backstage rumors that Drew McIntyre would join them as the 5th member.
