The WWE Universe is currently seeing numerous changes happening every day to the storyline of Cody Rhodes. After his shocking loss at WrestleMania 39 against Roman Reigns and feuding the next day with Brock Lesnar, everything now appears uncertain. However, this isn’t what a WWE legend feels. He is of the contrary opinion and might be logical as well. 

Being a part of the business for so long, Mark Henry has witnessed the unfolding of several storylines in WWE. He not only understands the pattern of it, but its long-term results as well. Keeping all of that in mind, the former World Heavyweight Champion has straight away remarked on how the promotion is applying the same formula for Rhodes as they did with Reigns earlier. 

Hall of Fame legend sheds light on an entirely unexamined matter in Cody Rhodes’ storyline

Speaking on the Busted Open podcast, Henry and Dave LaGreca discussed the encounter between The American Nightmare and ‘The Beast Incarnate’ on Monday Night RAW. During the conversation, the Hall of Fame legend shed light on Rhodes’ situation.

After what happened between Rhodes and Lesnar, one could see history repeating itself. The American Nightmare’s resemblance to John Cena’s 2012-2013 story arc was pretty evident. However, what fans might have missed is the similarity of the long-term storytelling for him with that of The Tribal Chief. Thus, Henry elucidated it.

He said, “You remember them shoving Roman down, him trying to be a baby face? Do you ever think about it now? No. So, what do you think, gonna happen with Cody?”

There has been a time when Reigns dealt with the same situation as Rhodes in terms of where he would land or how would his arc go. However, now it’s a distant memory after Reigns’ recent success.

“You think that Roman is the last person that they knew how to do that with? That they had the potential to be able to tell a long-term story way like that? No, there are other people. It’s just Cody’s turn,” Henry added. 

That being said, the 51-year-old also mentioned how much time fans had to wait to see Cody Rhodes emerge as a superstar again.

Following his warning for The American Nightmare that he is receiving similar treatment to that of Reigns, Henry added a timeline to the storyline. 

He said, “It’s going to take a complete calendar year to get to where we need to be.”

According to the Olympic Weightlifter, Cody Rhodes has to go through a lot now to emerge as the ultimate superstar of the promotion. And in order to see that, it will take at least a year so WWE can properly convey its long-term storytelling. If this is true, then it means fans have to wait for a good time to watch the entire story unfold.
