The 2021 WWE WrestleMania Backlash was jam-packed. While the result of some matches divided fan opinion, some didn’t. One particular result every fan rejoiced was the victory of Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik.

On May 17, 2021, Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik made history as they became the first-ever father-son duo to win a tag team championship in WWE history. On the win, Mysterio tweeted,

“Would love to thank everyone for the love & support for last night. I’ve been blessed with my career from day 1 in 1989, and now to be able to live such a memorable moment like this one creating history with my son. [Blue Heart Emoji] you all! #NewTagTeamChamps #GodIsGood [folded hands emoji]

The win came after they defeated the tag team of Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode, the former champions. It was a heartfelt moment for both father and son as they held each other after the victory.

It has always been a proud moment for any parent to see their child progress in life, but to do it with them is another level of happiness.

‘The Master of the 619’ thanked the fans and family for the love and support they showed towards them. Rey was absolutely ecstatic to live such a memorable moment and create history with his son.

Mysterio also attached a current picture of him and Dominik alongside a picture of them years ago. How time flies.

Rey Mysterio’s wife (Angie Gutierrez) and daughter (Aalyah Gutierrez) also celebrated their historic victory during the WWE WrestleMania Backlash watch along. Both women of the Mysterio family were teary-eyed as the men battled it out in the ring.

Fans also quickly took to Twitter to express their happiness towards the victory. They appreciated Dominik’s resolution to come out and wrestle while still being less than a hundred percent.
