Jey Uso couldn’t sustain his hard-earned shot at Damian Priest’s World Heavyweight Championship at a high-flying Backlash title match. The former Bloodline member put in a formidable effort against the Judgement Day star but was sent home getting slammed at the end. The cinematic match saw an unbridled crowd engagement in the form of repeated ‘Yeet’ and ‘no Yeet’ chants for Uso and Priest, respectively, throughout.

That said, the closing moment embodied a contradiction. Priest pinning Uso rolled up as rather flat and predictive and has been hugely called out by seasoned wrestling fans and journalists all over the internet.

The Senor Money in The Bank claimed the WWE Heavyweight Champion in an odd landscape, crushing Drew McIntyre‘s momentary joy during WrestleMania 40. However, with this, Priest also invited a new set of rivals in his way. Jey Uso, with his incredible determination and power, came out at the top of all. The bad blood between CM Punk and the Scotsman decided the outcome of the Fatal 4-Way Match, allowing Jey Uso to get away with the rare opportunity to challenge for the World Heavyweight Title. The end, however, didn’t go in his favor.

After a hard-hitting fight, the Archer of Infamy hit a choke slam on his opponent from the turnbuckle, followed by a winning pinfall. Not only did Jey Uso lose the match, but also the awkward silence from audiences during the segment proved it was an outright poor booking. Addressing the creative flaw on ‘Fightful Wrestling Podcast with Sean Ross Sapp’, Denise Salcedo noted, ”Given just how hot the crowd was for Jey Uso, it just felt like something other than the predictable had to happen. And it didn’t.”
