“King Kong”: Vince McMahon’s Weird Request to Brock Lesnar That Gave Birth to Iconic WWE Moment

The rise of Brock Lesnar wasn’t surprising for any of the WWE superstars or the fans. The moment Vince McMahon laid his eyes on Lesnar, he knew the company was going to make millions.

In his initial years, Lesnar feuded with the top WWE superstars. Moreover, he defeated most of them in the first attempt. The big names that faced The Beast in his initial years were The Rock, Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker, The Big Show, etc.

There are various versions of stories regarding how Vince McMahon wanted to portray Brock Lesnar in a Russian gimmick. McMahon had different visions for Lesnar looking at his size and agility in the ring.

In one of the pictures shared by Fumi Saito in Baseball Magazine, SHA Weekly Pro-Wrestling, Lesnar stated a weird request made by Mr. McMahon. Lesnar says, “Vince wanted me to be ‘King Kong on the top of the cage’ after defeating The Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell match.”

Lesnar and The Undertaker had a feud for the WWE Undisputed Title back. The fans loved the feud. Lesnar was dominating The Deadman in both the matches they had. They first fought at Unforgiven, which ended in a double disqualification.

Their feud carried over the No Mercy in a Hell in a Cell match. This is one of the memorable matches as Taker wrestled with a broken arm and both the stars gave a stellar performance. The Beast Incarnate referred to this match in the above picture.

The Undertaker was the favorite opponent of Brock Lesnar 

Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker crossed each other’s paths in 2002. They feuded until 2015 when they fought in Hell in a Cell match one last time. Lesnar, in his autobiography ‘Death Clutch’, has stated The Undertaker was one of his favorite opponents in WWE.

Lesnar wrote, “He was a lot bigger than I was, and the fans not only loved his character, but they believed he was a legitimate bad**s. Bumping for a guy bigger than me is always going to be easier than bumping around all night long for the Hardy Boyz. It’s just a different-style match.”

Brock Lesnar, in his rookie years, feuded with the top stars of the company. He wrestled with NJPW for a while before joining the UFC. There Lesnar became the Undisputed UFC Heavyweight Champion, defeating Frank Mir at UFC 100.
