Kurt Angle is Grateful for Ric Flair Advising Him to Join WWE Instead of WCW

Professional wrestling is a tricky business as one wrong move can see a wrestler’s career take a downward spiral. Back in 1996, the WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair saved Kurt Angle from making a wrong decision.

On his podcast, “The Kurt Angle Show“, a fan asked about the time when Ric Flair and Kurt had a conversation about the latter joining pro wrestling in ’96. Back then, Flair recommended Angle to sign with the WWF and the rest is history. Speaking about the conversation, Kurt said,

“Oh God, Ric brings it up all the time. He actually rubs it in my face. ‘Hey, I saved your career. I [said] go to WWF instead of WCW’. But Ric was right. I think if I would have went to WCW they probably wouldn’t utilized me the way WWE did.”

“So I’m very grateful for Ric’s advice. He directed me in the right direction and he’s a wrestler that’s not selfish. He’s very giving. He’s always been like that. Ric’s never been political, he’s really just a good guy, and he’s going to give the right advice all the time.”

Kurt Angle offended Ric Flair

Kurt Angle once offended the Hall of Famer when he stated that Bret “The Hitman” Hart was his dream match. ‘The Nature Boy’ retaliated, stating that as Kurt hadn’t wrestled with the youthful version of him, he did not know what he was talking about.

Kurt Angle puts Ric Flair at the very top of the best of the all-time list. He puts him up there with Bret Hart, Hulk Hogan, etc. They are all different, but they all deserve to be up there. According to the Olympic Gold Medalist, Flair was the best heel and the best entertainer in the business’s history.
