It’s obvious that pro-wrestlers and fighters need to take precautions before matches. However, Kurt Angle did not actually start wearing a mouthpiece to protect his original teeth. It was to protect temporaries after a WWE Legend knocked them out!
During a conversation with Conrad Thompson, The Olympic Gold Medalist opened up about why he started wearing those. The idea to wear a mouthpiece arose after John Cena knocked out his front teeth and he had to get temporaries.

“When I converted from the funny Kurt Angle to The Wrestling Machine, I decided that I needed to have a mouthpiece. And, what happened was, add on to that, John Cena knocked two of my front teeth out. I was going to get new ones, the crowns. But, I was wrestling and my dentist said ‘you might want to get temporaries at the time’. So, having temporaries, u didn’t want to smash those in so I decided to wear a mouthpiece. Because, Cena knocked my teeth out.”

Kurt Angle wanted John Cena to end his career
The Olympic Gold Medalist’s last match in WWE was against Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35. However, Angle always wanted John Cena to be his last match since he started Cena’s career.
He had pitched the idea to the WWE team, but nothing happened. To this day, he doesn’t know if the team spoke to Cena about this or not or who rejected the idea. Nevertheless, he met Cena at WrestleMania 35, and Cena mentioned knowing what Angle wished for but did not reveal why it didn’t happen.
