Fans couldn’t agree more that LA Knight had an incredible year at WWE. The star was a part of many Premium Live Events and was also featured in the main event of the 2023 Crown Jewel. Even though he could not dethrone Roman Reigns this year, he sure did win the hearts of millions of fans. For this very reason, he will bestowed with a great honor that is in line with Dwayne Johnson and John Cena.

LA Knight will receive the key to the city

The City of Hagerstown, Maryland, issued a public statement that LA Knight will receive the key to the city. The city stated, “The City of Hagerstown will present one of its own, and currently one of the most popular Superstars in World Wrestling Entertainment, with the key to the city.” According to the announcement, the ceremony will be on December 23, 2023, at the town’s University Plaza. The town also invited the folks to attend the ceremony, as he is one of their own.

Born Shaun Ricker, Knight was born and raised in the City of Hagerstown. He had graduated from the North Hagerstown High School back in 2000, before embarking on his pro wrestling journey. Before joining WWE, he was a part of many promotions and indie circuits, including NWA, TNA, etc. This honor will bring him on par with a few other WWE stars.

Back in 2009, John Cena received the key to Texas City. The mayor of the town presented it to him. Back in 2012, Dwayne Johnson was honored with the key to the city of Miami.

Currently, Knight is involved in a storyline with the Bloodline and Randy Orton. Since his return, Orton has been seen positively interacting with Knight. The Defiant One even came out to help Orton when he was being overwhelmed by Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso. Following his team-up with John Cena, this is Knight’s other big team-up with an established star. However, things are left a bit open-ended currently.

On last week’s episode of SmackDown, Knight came out to help Orton. However, he was then attacked by Roman Reigns and The Bloodline who still successfully unleashed a lethal attack on the two. Along came AJ Styles who returned after a couple of months, following his hiatus due to an injury. After the three were successfully able to fend off the heel faction, Styles attacked Knight. Without uttering a word, Styles left the arena, adding a twist to LA Knight’s story at WWE.
