Former Executive Director of RAW Paul Heyman has been a key reason behind the success of Brock Lesnar. His impeccable advocacy skills help in making Lenar matching his Beast Incarnate billing.
On a talk show with Inside The Ropes, Heyman spared no detail about Lesnar’s feats of strength and how his talents were close to being wasted.
“Brock was in the ring early in the day during the show and there was a bunch of these old-timers that at the time were producers and they’re giving him the worst advice ever,” says Heyman. “‘You should be a Russian. You should stand in the middle of the ring and do nothing and just let people bounce off of you.’”

“This is an NCAA Division 1 Heavyweight Champion whose combine number- you know what combine numbers are in football, anybody knows what that means?” Asks Heyman.
“When Brock Lesnar went to try out for the Minnesota Vikings in 2004,” continues Heyman, “right before Brock went to Phoenix Arizona to try out for the Vikings, Brock flipped his motorcycle.
Paul Heyman recalls the severity of Brock Lesnar’s motorcycle injury
“He broke his jaw which was wired which he then cut off with a pair of pliers, he fractured his pelvis and he tore his groin which means from his belly button down to his knee he was bruised. He was black and purple. This was within a week of going to camp.”

Lesnar’s dreams had seemingly been shattered. However, being the beast that he is, Lesnar still turned up.
“He showed up at camp at 295 pounds with a broken jaw, fractured pelvis, and a torn groin. And he ran the hunger-yard dash in the quarter-mile in Olympic qualifying time!” says Heyman. “Think about the enormity of the athletic ability we’re discussing.”

Paul Heyman claimed that the old-timers were giving Lesnar the worst possible advice.
“And this guy is in the ring as an NCAA Division 1 Heavyweight Champion and people are saying to him, ‘You should be a Russian. You should just stand there’ like he’s a warlord or something, I mean, come on! Are you kidding me?”

He probably still can’t believe where Brock would’ve landed had he not been there. The man was asked to stand in the center of the ring and do nothing.
Now, he has a legendary career and is one of the most dominant names in the business.
