The WWE Universe witnessed the greatest match at Hell in a Cell 2022 between Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. ‘The American Nightmare’ entered the steel structure with a torn pectoral muscle on his right arm and had a 20+ minute match.

Cody Rhodes suffered a torn pec in his brawl with Seth Rollins a week prior to Hell in a Cell’s episode of RAW. Moreover, later WWE announced his pectoral muscle was completely torn off the bone while he was working out for his match.

The after-match result was horrible for Cody Rhodes, as the bruise on his upper arm was all over his right arm. Rhodes had surgery four days later after the match on Thursday.

Recently, Cody Rhodes shared an update on the recovery he is having for his torn pec. He shared the update on his Instagram story of the injured side. The result has made fans worry even more. Wrestling Analyst Ryan Satin shared the picture of Rhodes’ Instagram story on his Twitter. He tweeted, “Cody Rhodes bruising update.”

Rhodes, in his story, had written a caption regarding an update. It was, “Majority bruising has drained down into my ribs and into my hips – surgery was a bear..lots LOTS of blood under there.”

Rhodes said the surgery was challenging, but the good news is that things are clearing up a bit. WWE previously revealed that Rhodes will be out of action for nine months, which put any hopes of the former Intercontinental Champion being back for money in the Bank or SummerSlam to rest.

Can Cody Rhodes pull off a surprise WWE return as John Cena?

In 2007, John Cena, while having a match against Mr. Kennedy, attempted a hip toss when his pectoral muscle tore. Nevertheless, he completed the match and also received an RKO from Randy Orton on top of the table.

He was forced to relinquish his WWE Title and was announced to be out of action for 6-7 months. However, within four months, Cena returned to Royal Rumble with a huge pop and made it the most memorable return. He was lifting heavy men easily, as if he had never torn his pectoral muscle.

After watching ‘The Prodigal Son’ having a 20-minute plus match with an enormous bruise on his body, we can assume Rhodes would not sit quietly. Even though the chances are less, he is most likely to make sure to return quickly.
