The internet is filled with Matt Hardy‘s WWE return rumors. This is because of his contract with AEW which expired in March 2024. Now, as far as we know, Hardy is a free agent, unless he has already signed with the Stamford-based company. Regardless of the situation backstage, there are no public announcements regarding Matt Hardy’s WWE return.

However, the wrestling legend is not backing off from teasing a potential appearance at WrestleMania XL. For the past several days, he has been uploading posts on social media that suggest an imminent return to his former workplace.

In 2017, The Hardy Boyz returned to WWE at WrestleMania. This is when the brothers also won the Raw Tag Team Championship during the Fatal 4 Way ladder match. It seems like Matt Hardy hasn’t moved on from his days in the leading wrestling promotion yet.

On Instagram, the older Hardy brother posted a video clip from 7 years ago. The WrestleMania 33 clip showed the siblings returning to WWE. It was their first WrestleMania following the return, and they were able to bag the victory.

Recently, the 49-year-old even sat down in an interview with Chris Van Vliet and gave us a glimpse of what he expects from his future in the pro wrestling industry.

Matt Hardy wishes to be booked better

During his AEW run, we saw the wrestling superstar lose matches often. But now that he is allegedly out of the promotion, he doesn’t want to be booked the same way. In a recent interview clip posted on Instagram by Van Vliet, Hardy talked about how he wishes to honor the legacy that he and Jeff Hardy built.

As an all-time top star in the pro wrestling industry, Matt Hardy doesn’t want to be defeated every other week. Rather, he wants to be a part of a bigger storyline. This is something that we have seen WWE engage with a number of times. So, could this be a potential hint?
