Since March, there have been speculations that Matt Hardy could be returning to the WWE. His contract with AEW was set to expire, but he did not renew it. While WrestleMania XL was on the horizon, fans believed he would return on the Grandest Stage. However, that did not happen, yet Hardy took to social media to hint at his involvement in today’s cryptic message regarding Uncle Howdy’s return.

Hardy is currently a free agent or is he? Despite being asked multiple times, he’s maintained that negotiations are still in the works. This recent post, however, might hint at the answer to that.

Taking to social media, Hardy reposted the same video the WWE did regarding the glitch during New Day’s entrance. This sent fans into a frenzy, and they questioned what it meant. All this while, fans believed it hinted at Uncle Howdy and Bo Dallas’ return. But this post changes everything. Fans are asking if this particular post hints at Hardy’s return or if the returning Uncle Howdy character will feature Hardy.

While there is no official statement, fans are excited about the WWE’s potential here. The Broken Matt gimmick was never used in the WWE. Despite returning to the company with the gimmick, the WWE never made full use of it. Being supernatural and spooky at times in nature, Broken Matt pairs well with Uncle Howdy. There are rumors that even his brother Jeff’s contract is ending. With nothing to do in AEW, this could be the best time for the brothers to return to where it all started. But which version will we see?

Will we see a normal  Matt or a Broken Matt Hardy?

If the WWE wants to add Broken Matt to the Uncle Howdy storyline, fans will be in for a treat. The Broken Matt gimmick began in TNA but took a life of its own. With creative control in the hands of Hardy, he breathed life into the gimmick. It soon became the hottest topic in pro wrestling.

Fans would love to see Broken Matt done in the WWE along with his brother Willow, played by Jeff Hardy. Tonight’s cryptic message was the first time Matt has responded to anything by the WWE.
