“May Be Someone Who Is Not My Cup of Tea” – Cody Rhodes Explains the Impact Dusty Rhodes Had on “Superstar” Roman Reigns

The WWE Universe is well aware of the eye-catching match at WrestleMania 39 that will have Cody Rhodes facing Roman Reigns in the squared circle. While the fans are all hyped about it, they cannot forget a legend with whom both of the WWE superstars are connected. If you are guessing it to be Dusty Rhodes, you are absolutely correct.

Even in one recent interview, The American Nightmare was found explaining the impact of his own father on his WrestleMania opponent.

Roman Reigns isn’t the son of The American Dream, but wrestling fanatics would know about his deep relationship with the legend during his days in NXT and WWE’s training system. However, the most surprising thing about this part of the show was Rhodes’ justification and acceptance of ‘The Tribal Chief’s’ relationship with his father.

Speaking on WWE Super Dhamaal, the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble winner faced an emotionally tough question. This time he didn’t have to remark on how much closeness he shared with his father, but what he thinks of Reigns’ relationship with him.

However, Rhodes answered it with all honesty. He even accepted that what The Tribal Chief and his special counsel said on this is true. The 37-year-old said, “I think Roman Reigns has access to some of the Dusty Rhodes because he did had a relationship with him, a deeper relationship which you hear from him and which you hear from Heyman it’s true.”

Rhodes didn’t stop here but also shed light on how his father used to cultivate the individual into how talented he would become and that must be the reason behind his close relationship with Reigns.

At the end, Rhodes concluded by saying, “So he may be someone who is not my cup of tea, but he has access to someone who was part of my life too.”

It must have been hard for the three-time AEW TNT Champion to speak all of this, however, he did it. He was also seen praising the longest reign of WWE Universal Champion, although, a bit ambiguously.

Before Rhodes explained his father’s relationship with the leader of The Bloodline, he appreciated the latter. Even though Roman Reigns credits the late WWE legend for his career, there’s no denying that he is currently one of the best superstars on the roster.

Thus, Rhodes not only talked about the 900 days streak of the WWE Universal Championship title of Reigns but also indicated that it will soon cross 1000 days.

It is quite uncommon these days for wrestling rivals to acknowledge each other’s record-breaking performance. However, Cody Rhodes seems to be breaking all these stereotypes with his subtle acknowledgment of his rival.
