“My Knees Were Soaked In Kerosene” – Randy Orton Details Near-Death Experience in WWE

Randy Orton has been in WWE for all of his career. A second-generation wrestler, Randy Orton is occasionally considered one of the best heels in the company and is one of the most recognized faces.

Due to his decade-long career, Orton had matches with the biggest names in the industry. Most of them were memorable, but one, in particular, is etched in his mind forever.

In the latest episode of WWE Untold, Randy Orton spoke about his legendary rivalry with The Undertaker. Their feud started before WrestleMania 21, and it ended in late 2005 at WWE Armageddon.

During this period, Orton spoke about how he nearly set himself on fire during a casket match at No Mercy 2005. Randy’s father, WWE Hall of Famer Bob Orton junior, was also present during the incident.

Randy Orton survived a near-death experience

In the casket match, the Ortons tried to burn Undertaker alive by putting him inside the casket and setting it ablaze. They were successful, but an accident was on the verge of happening.

As The Viper recalls, “I’m dumping all this kerosene all over this f***ing casket. It’s dripping everywhere, and it’s splashing, and it’s hitting me, and it’s on my boots. I didn’t even realize it, but my boots up to my knees were soaked in kerosene.”

He said WWE is great with the safety of the performers. People are instantly ready with fire extinguishers if an accident were to happen.

However, when he lit the casket on fire, flames soon engulfed the wooden box. Orton was visibly startled then, but fans thought it was due to the storyline. It turns out, Orton’s life was in danger.

“I light it on fire, and I think, if I remember it correctly, as I did that, I stepped back just in the nick of time when you saw the fire take over the casket. I think it missed the tips of my toes by this much.

The Viper recently made history at Hell in a Cell as he finally defeated Drew McIntyre and won the WWE Championship. The duo has been feuding for months, and look set to continue for the next few months.
