WWE has been ruling the professional wrestling industry for several decades. It’s a dream for almost every pro wrestler to work with the sports entertainment giant. But, for an AEW megastar, it turned out to be his worst nightmare. A 39-year-old AEW star has come forward and talked about his time in Vince McMahon’s company, which wasn’t as good as he expected.

The star in question is none other than Kenny Omega, who worked in WWE’s development territory, ‘Deep South Wrestling’ in 2005. Recently, Omega has given an interview with ‘Monthly Puroresu’, where talked about the time he decided to quit professional wrestling. Recalling those days, Kenny said that at that time, he reconsidered his choice, as it became more like a business than passion.

While talking to the ‘Monthly Puroresu’ Kenny Omega said, “At that point, I had thought maybe wrestling isn’t for me because I was thinking at the highest level when it becomes more of a business rather than a passion. Maybe I’m not the businessman that I thought that I was, maybe I was never meant to be at the highest level.”

He further mentioned that he even thought if childhood dream and the passion he fell in love with is the same as before. At that moment, Kenny thought about quitting professional wrestling. He continued, “My worry at that point was if this is what wrestling is, or if this is what it’s become…..maybe this isn’t what I fell in love with….Maybe this isn’t my childhood dream anymore. Maybe I just need to consider doing something else. Or just give it up,”

Kenny Omega, WWE, and the professional wrestling world

It is hard to believe that a professional wrestling gem like Kenny Omega has never worked as a main roster in WWE. Kenny signed the contract with AEW in 2019. He is the longest-reigning AEW world champion and also just one championship away from being AEW’s first-ever grand slam champion. He just needs to capture the TNT title to make that record.
