Just as Dakota and Raquel began boasting about being inaugural champs, Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon interrupted them. Blackheart and Moon then challenged Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez for the titles which William Regal made official.
The match between both teams was fairly decent. There was a smooth story being told in the ring, and it never seemed like the new Champions would lose, but they did!

In the closing moments of the match, Gonzalez had Ember Moon in a powerbomb position, but the latter tried to get out of it. Dakota Kai pushed Ember Moon and Raquel in an attempt to get Moon off of Gonzalez. The push lead to both women falling outside the ring.
While Dakota looked outside, Shotzi Blackheart quickly rolled her up and transitioned into a bridge to steal the victory and become the new NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions. This ended Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez’s title reign in just an hour! Feel sad, right? But there’s a brighter side!
Why Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez lost the titles so quickly
While some would say it’s atrocious booking, we’d say it’s perfectly done! It was a perfect surprise for everyone as no one saw the title change coming. Plus, there’s a bigger picture for which WWE took the titles off Kai and Gonzalez that quickly.

Shirai’s main roster debut has been rumored for a long-time now. Our guess is Raquel Gonzalez wins the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT TakeOver: Stand and Deliver, and Io Shirai moves to the main roster following WrestleMania.
