One of the biggest and most consistent people that WWE got on its side after the pandemic was Pat McAfee. A former NFL star and a master podcaster, McAfee was glad to do his podcast and the occasional NFL spots. But WWE came in knocking and he entered another chapter in his life. A chapter that included a wrestling ring and a mic.

His first call from WWE came from Triple H. The Game of Games organized one of the best guest matches in NXT, with Adam Cole taking on Pat McAfee. The build-up to the match was unlike anything the black and gold brand had seen until then. But once that match was over, Vince McMahon might have seen the young man. And the rest is history.

From matches at WrestleMania and SummerSlam to becoming the WWE fans’ favorite commentator, McAfee has done a lot of things in WWE. But it looks like he won’t be able to give his undivided attention to the company.
Pat McAfee may miss the WWE premium live events
Earlier today, the man who faced Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 38 just announced that he will be joining GameDay as a full-timer. The show takes place every Saturday and covers all the NFL news of the week. In the tweet, McAfee also professed his love for the show and how he always wanted to be a part of it.
It’s an absolute honor 2 have this tweet tweeted about me.
GameDay is a show that I’ve been a fan of FOREVER
So many moving parts including real cool conversations w/ the fine folks from WWE..all moved quickly
Will lead show manana w/ all the deets
🗣 DUMBEST LIFE OF ALL TIME https://t.co/wC4vhzUJIv

While McAfee’s dreams are coming true, this marks a sad point for his WWE fan following. While he won’t be taking leave from his SmackDown commentary duties, he won’t be available for the WWE premium live events. This also means no more matches like his feud with Baron Corbin or Austin Theory.

Also, as the man will be appearing regularly at GameDay, he needs to be in the best shape. That’s why he will be cautious of any injuries that might keep him on the bench. So no more risky matches in WWE probably as well. But while this keeps him away from wrestling action, we can expect his dance at the announcer’s table every time Shinsuke Nakamura’s music hits.
