“Not Gonna Work”: Hulk Hogan’s Rumored WrestleMania XL Return Trashed Online Amid Controversial History

January 23, 1984, is a date that old wrestling fans will never forget. That day marked the inception of Hulkamania and changed the pro wrestling landscape forever. Almost 40 years ago, the myth of Hulk Hogan began. WWE celebrated it in the best possible way. First was a special video that aired on an episode of Monday Night Raw. In the video, The Hulkster himself talked about the beginning of Hulkamania, with footage showing the birth of this phenomenon, including his WWF title win against The Iron Sheik at Madison Square Garden in New York in the 1980s.
And at the end of the montage, he talked about the Royal Rumble. While that sparked rumors of a return, it is nothing compared to what’s brewing now as the WWE could bring the icon to WrestleMania XL.
There’s no doubt about it, Hulk Hogan is a true legend. His name has forged a deep connection to that of wrestling, or perhaps, it’s just that of wrestling linked to his. Nevertheless, they go hand in hand. And the WWE is surely aware of this fact as they are trying to bring the icon to WrestleMania according to a recent report by PWInsider. They said, “There’s been talk over the last week that WWE is working on having Hulk Hogan involved in some fashion during WrestleMania XL week. No word yet what the role might be or in what capacity.”

It is worth noting that back in 2023, Hogan did claim he wanted one last WrestleMania match. So considering the backstage heat he packs with some wrestlers and his knack for burying talent, WWE superstars in the locker room won’t be too eager to have a 70-year-old superstar beat them. And neither are the fans excited about the prospect of it.
Fans speak out against the return
WWE fans are already tired of the promotion’s habit of bringing old talent and part-timers back for a quick buck. And while they may tolerate a quick appearance of a fan-favorite legend, having someone as controversial as Hogan sounds like bad news to them. And it took them no time to let their thoughts known:
One fan cleverly used an iconic catchphrase of Hogan to show their disapproval of the idea.
