Home/WWE

The WWE had infamously released several wrestlers from its roster this year, sacking several new as well as established talents. With some still free agents, many of these pro wrestling superstars are up for grabs. AEW usually plays the role of the second home of several ex-WWE superstars but this time however, Tony Khan may lose out on big talent to another wrestling outfit.

Total Non-Stop Action (TNA) also know as Impact Wrestling is a big name in the world of pro wrestling and has housed several huge names like Kurt Angle, Sting and Jeff Hardy. While it’s far from its haymaking days, it may soon get a big boost by hiring a freshly released WWE talent. In fact, if Dave Meltzer is to be believed, it can even outdo AEW in a bidding war.

Which wrestlers are on the bidding war list?

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer News recently commented on the free agency status of several big names. He said, “IMPACT does have, from what I gather, earmarked some money to where they can spend some money on a big free agent.” Meltzer revealed that these wrestlers are none other than Dolph Ziggler, Matt Riddle, and Mustafa Ali.

He further added, “Whether they would or could outbid AEW, it’s doubtful. They could, but you don’t know how much Tony (Khan) would be willing to spend on one of those names (Dolph Ziggler, Matt Riddle, Mustafa Ali).”  Thus, TNA can either either bag one of these major talents or at least make things very hard for the AEW.

Out of the above, Dolph Ziggler has the most glory under his belt, while Matt Riddle and Mustafa Ali are relatively newer to the wrestling fandom. It will be a tough call for AEW on which wrestler to go for, and who to pass up on.

This creates even more trouble for Tony Khan, who may just need top stars to secure a new TV deal with Warner Bros Discovery.

The WWE is currently looking for a new broadcasting partner for the Monday Night Raw. While the red brand was initially in an unambiguous space, it now stands a good chance of getting a deal with WBD. Dave Meltzer mentioned that CM Punk has a big role in the renewed attractiveness of Raw for the company.

Interestingly, WBD is the broadcasting partner of AEW and was facing trouble due to the NBA. Now, WWE is also in the mix, heightening its problems.
