In another spot, Gargano super kicked Ciampa in the face and he landed on a table outside the ring that broke in half. Ultimately, Tommaso Ciampa defeated Johnny Gargano to retain the NXT Championship.
#4 Balor vs Owens: NXT Ladder Match
This high-risk match took place in Brooklyn on August 20, 2015. It delivered on its expectation to be an entertaining one and more. Though both wrestlers took serious hits and damage on the steel ladders, they kept pushing themselves for the NXT title.
In one spot, Balor performed the Coup de grâce (Diving double foot stomp) on Owens from the top of the ladder. Ultimately, ‘The Demon King’ climbed the ladder to win the WWE NXT Championship.

#3 Adam Cole vs Tommaso Ciampa
This is another gruesome match on our list. This match took place in Portland on February 16, 2020. Both wrestlers fought each other relentlessly and without mercy. The match had a controversial ending as Ciampa accidentally knocked the referee out of the ring.
Johnny Gargano seized the opportunity and hit Ciampa on the head with the NXT Championship belt. The ref didn’t see the blatant foul and counted the 1,2,3 as Cole pinned Ciampa for the win.
#2 Gargano vs Cole: 2-Out-of-3 Falls
This match took place in New York on April 5, 2019. It was a real back-and-forth type of match, with both men securing one pinfall each. Cole was the first to pick up the pinfall in the match. Gargano soon equaled the tally by making Cole submit.
Ultimately, Johnny Gargano won the fight as he made Adam Cole tap out for the second time in the night to become the NXT Champion.
