Both teams took each other to the limit, and there was no stopping them. It was the One Arm Powerbomb off the top rope through the ladder on Io Shirai that allowed Raquel Gonzalez to pick the win for Team Candice. If you’ve missed it, go and re-watch now!

Tommaso Ciampa vs Timothy Thatcher

Two of the best performers in the ring collided in a hard-hitting, bloody contest at TakeOver. The match wasn’t for a spot fest, but a showcase of what quality technical wrestling looks like.

It seemed Thatcher would choke out Ciampa like he did last week on NXT, but Ciampa fought back. In the closing moments, Ciampa hit the Willows Bell DDT on Timothy Thatcher to get the victory. Thatcher was bleeding from his left ear.

Dexter Lumis vs Cameron Grimes – Strap Match

This one was the least exciting of all the matches on the card, but boy did it deliver! It was not at the level of The Fiend vs Daniel Bryan from this year’s Royal Rumble, but it was surely done differently and was surely fun to watch.

The match was a perfect filler. Cameron Grimes and Dexter Lumis brought their best in this TakeOver contest, keeping up with their story and emotion throughout this entertaining match. The end of with the match saw Lumis wrap the strap to Grimes’ legs and extended it to put the chokehold to get the victory.

Damian Priest vs Johnny Gargano vs Leon Ruff – NXT North American Championship

One of the most entertaining programs of the past few weeks, the triple threat finally took place tonight at TakeOver: WarGames. All three men gave it their all, Leon Ruff looked very impressive in his first TakeOver. Damian Priest has upped his game in the past few months and looked good even in defeat.

The ‘All Heart No Soul’ hit a One Final Beat on Ruff after one of the scream faces took out Damian Priest to become the first-ever three-time NXT North American Champion. Post-match, Austin Theory was revealed to be under the scream mask.

The Undisputed Era vs The Kings of NXT

My oh my! These words purely describe how I feel watching this match. After a classic WarGames match by the women, the men WarGames match seemed pretty decent compared to the women. Just as all four men got in, things escalated quickly.

From cricket bats to four tables (each having one UE member’s name), a Moonsault from McAfee and even a crazy swanton off the top of the WarGames structure – this match had it all. Pat McAfee shined through like a superstar and never looked like it was his second match only.

All four men took some crazy bumps and kept the drama alive till the end. They did the false finishes exceedingly well. The best part was the end when Kyle O’Reilly pinned Oney Lorcan to get a victory for The Undisputed Era.
