The Merger of WWE and UFC has been the talk of the town since last week. Vince McMahon has reportedly played an influential part in the completion of the deal. Many in the business have provided their views on it. And now a former business rival of McMahon has weighed in on the merger.

Eric Bischoff, who served as President of the erstwhile WCW, recently opined on the piece of business concerning the Stamford-based promotion. He was once a direct competitor to the former WWE supremo and served under him as a general manager of RAW.

Bischoff said in his 83 Weeks With Eric Bischoff podcast, “If you look at WWE and you look at UFC, first of all for those people who think they’re similar they are not. There is zero similarities between WWE and WCW as properties or UFC sorry. That being said, I mean one is one is a legit athletic contest, the other is scripted entertainment.”

On the similarities between both, he said, They both make a lot of money on Premium Live Events or pay-per-views they’re both involved in the Television distribution business.”

Bischoff is right in remarking on the similarities between both businesses. And that would certainly have been taken into account by Endeavour while working out the agreement. What changes ensues in both the MMA and wrestling giant coming under a single umbrella remains to be seen.

The deal sees WWE valued at around $9.3 billion and UFC at $12.1 billion. This isn’t the first time that Bischoff has discussed the nitty-gritty of the deal.

Bischoff had recently also commented on the deal

In a recent interaction with TMZ Sports, he expressed his surprise at the surprise turn of events. The former on-screen authority figure at the Red brand had rather expected McMahon to take the organization private.

However, in a move that surprised almost everybody, WWE ended up getting sold. Bischoff’s reaction tells he was completely taken off-guard by the shocking piece of business.
