Behind all the lights, cameras, adrenaline, and entertainment, there’s more to the wrestling viscera, which is felt even more specifically during the high-voltage PLEs. As an action-jacked Elimination Chamber 2024 went down from the Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia, taking us to the storm, certain aftereffects awaited us in the form of Finn Balor’s concerning injury. The Judgement star himself confirmed the angst in a tweet.

Balor and Damian Priest got the upper hand in their career-defining tag team match against the New Catch Republic at the WWE Elimination Chamber to retain their Undisputed Tag Team Championship in Australia. That said, Balor had to pay a cost for it. It seemed that the 42-year-old injured his thumb in the closing hour of the match.

The former Universal Champion then seemingly adjusted his hand and went on to celebrate the win, giving the fans temporary relief. Shortly after the event, the Judgement Day mogul took to Twitter to give off the actual status of the hurt. ‘I typed this with one thumb’, he wrote.

The injury occurred during a sequence involving Pete Dunne, known for his joint manipulation maneuvers. It’s speculated that Dunne’s aggressive tactics may have led to Balor’s thumb being snapped or twisted, causing the injury. After the match, Balor held his hand up to the camera showing off some nasty-looking damage to his hand and thumb.

Moreover, in the worst-case scenario, if Balor gets sidelined ahead of WrestleMania due to his thumb tear, he might not get to prove himself again in another big PLE.

This is what Finn Balor’s current WWE contract status looks like

There has been a lot of back-forth during Balor’s contract status for a while now. However, as per the latest and most steadfast update, the Iris Captor doesn’t have many days left in his hand to live up to his WWE drive.

After rumors swirled over the social media walls, Fightful has finally locked that in, revealing the true status of Balor’s WWE contract. They noted his time in WWE was indeed coming close to a termination by this year. But it’s not as disappointing as you think. It’s a sure, yet slow call. Balor will still have a few months to be under the WWE banner post-WrestleMania.

The report further revealed that WWE hadn’t yet contacted him to pen a new deal or a contract extension. Now, it seems more crucial for the Judgement Day member to stay fit to have his few last dances inside the WWE ring.
