Paige Hopeful of In-Ring Return as WWE Contract Nears the End

Former Divas Champion Paige retired from pro wrestling back in 2018. She cited her injuries as the prime reason for it. Since then, she has appeared on WWE programming through various non-wrestling roles.
Her last appearance came in 2020 during the pandemic. Paige appeared on SmackDown via Skype to confront and announce the WrestleMania match for the women’s champion, Bayley.
Since then, she has been absent from WWE. Her stance regarding WWE and their reintroduced third-party app policy landed her in troubled waters. Soon after, the former General Manager of SmackDown changed her social media accounts to her real name, Saraya.

However, there might be new hope on the horizon. Paige teased a comeback on Twitter after almost a year of in-ring inactivity. She tweeted out, “I’m not done yet.”
This announcement comes right after her contract announcement. Previously, fans believe her contract expires in 2023, but Paige clarified it gets over next year in 2022.

Paige said on her Twitch stream her deal is up in less than a year, adding: “Who knows if they would want to give me a new contract? Who’s to say they would want to? If they did, I’d love to have Twitch as a part of the contract.”

Paige was terrified to come back to the ring
Paige had a relatively shorter run compared to her contemporaries. Even in this run, she was cornered with injuries. Although she wants to come back, Paige was still “terrified.”
“Like in my head, I’m terrified to come back. Even if my heart is saying, ‘Yes! I would love to.’ It’s like getting over that mental block of ever being able to step back in the ring again,” she concluded.

WWE Hall of Famer Edge had a similar route to Paige and had to retire prematurely because of his injuries. However, he has made a commendable comeback to the ring.
Following the comeback announcement, Edge’s wife and fellow Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix wrote, “I know that anything is possible because I have seen TWO people I adore manifest it for themselves. It’s hard as hell! It takes time! But we are rooting for you! Write your own story.” Natalya also responded with a photo of her and Paige.
