Pete Dunne, formerly known as Butch, is currently on the rise on the WWE roster. And one thing that’s going to favor him is the return of his former name, Butch.

The odd name change confused many, but with the return of the former name came a victory that will surely go towards cementing him as a possible top-tier talent for the main roster. Joining hands with Tyler Bate to square off against Pretty Deadly, Butch apparently paid tribute to Cristiano Ronaldo’s former teammate on his return.

The former Butch and Tyler went against Pretty Deadly in a spectacle of a match. While the match alone had several highlights, it was Dunne’s celebration after defeating his opponents that caught the eyes of fans. Especially a sharp eyes one who uploaded it on Twitter with the caption, “No way he just did Rashford’s celebrarion”

Apparently, the 30-year-old felt the need to pay tribute to Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford by using the 26-year-old’s signature celebration that he uses after scoring a goal. This was surely unexpected to many, as no one actually knew that Dunne was a fan of soccer.

The name change was teased on SmackDown 1/10. During a vignette, Butch and Tyler Bate could be seen getting a cup of coffee, with Bate telling his tag team partner that he needs to make a name for himself. Tyler Bate asked Butch to remember just who he was deep down and focus on what name came to his mind when he did so. And before you knew it, rather than Butch, in came Pete Dunne for the tag team match against the Pretty Deadly. Dominating the match wearing his burgundy singlet, this moment marked the end of his two-year run in the company under the name of Butch.

Dunne, who was moved to be a part of SmackDown in March 2022, got a new name Butch upon his arrival at the Blue brand, following his loss to Xavier Woods. Being paired up with Sheamus and Ridge Holland, he became a part of The Brawling Brutes. However, due to Sheamus being out because of an injury, the trio has parted ways, and Dunne is looking forward to making his mark as a single’s superstar.
