The Capitol Wrestling Center was packed with a record high attendance earlier today for NXT TakeOver: In your House and fans were relentlessly cheering for a man whose gimmick they have all come to love- Cameron Grimes.

The Superstar was greeted with a huge ovation and was the clear favorite heading into his match against LA Knight. The title was on the line, but this wasn’t just any title; it was the Million Dollar Championship, one of the most prestigious belts in WWE history.

Displayed to fans by ‘The Million Dollar Man’ Ted DiBiase himself, the title was suspended in a transparent briefcase above the ring and was to be won through a ladder match. DiBiase sat ringside to observe who exactly would continue his legacy

With the money and lack of humility, fans expected it to be none other than Cameron Grimes, who even brought his own ladder to the ring. It appeared to be gold plated with iconic dollar signs on it. This was to mark his ‘ascension’ to the belt and then to the moon.

Booed profoundly upon his entrance, LA Knight came in as the underdog. Taking the fight to Grimes in every way, the two pushed it to the limit.

LA Knight recovered quickly from every setback

Using the ladders in every way imaginable, we saw the two display their skills. Grimes tried to eliminate his opponent from the fight by jumping off a ladder onto him. However, Knight displayed his resilience by coming back up miraculously after every setback.

With the crowd and most of the WWE Universe on Grimes’ side, Knight fought through the boos and gave his spoiled opponent a run for his money. Cameron Grimes came close and used his golden ladder to begin the ascent.

Thought to be out of the contest, LA Knight came back and pushed the ladder over with Grimes nearly at the top. The latter went crashing into another ladder outside the ring, breaking it in two. More importantly for Knight, he had eliminated Grimes from the match for good.

LA Knight then climbed to the top. In a cruel irony, he used the million-dollar ladder to clinch the title, much to the shock of every fan in the CWC. Ted DiBiase happily crowned him as the new Million Dollar Champion, the first since his own son over a decade ago. We are yet to see what’s next in Cameron Grimes’ story. Money can’t buy you everything, or can it?
