The elephant in the room was finally addressed, as all Superstars involved in the grand conspiracy against former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre showed up in Mondy Night Raw’s opening segment.

The Miz came out to remind Drew that he would have to get through Lashley to challenge him again, and Lashley obviously rejected that futile challenge.

Sheamus also joined the action, and that was when old feuds had to be settled. A man who was once his best friend, Sheamus famously betrayed ‘The Scottish Psychopath’ and became another nail in his coffin as WWE Champion.

The two were then booked to fight immediately on the show, a match that began with the two immediately going at each others’ throats. Sheamus got the early advantage by catching McIntyre off guard with a thumping Brogue Kick.

However, the battle of endurance was won by Drew, and he quickly turned the tide. The former WWE Champion took Sheamus out with a series of blows to the back and sent him flying with a Suplex into the commentary table.

‘The Celtic Warrior’ targeted McIntyre’s jaw, which was previously injured but failed to really capitalize on it. Instead, he tasted a doze of his own medicine when McIntyre delivered a White Noise to him from the top rope.

Drew McIntyre caught Sheamus with a point-blank Claymore Kick

Both men endured the battle of attrition and could barely even get to their feet towards the end. Realizing the time had come, Sheamus prepared to finish off his former friend with a Brogue Kick, much like he had in the Gauntlet match before Elimination Chamber.

However, the Irishman was immediately blindsided by a point-blank Claymore Kick, launched by McIntyre in the nick of time. Drew then managed to pin Sheamus in what was the end to a long and exciting opening to Monday Night Raw.

Both men proved that their fight could have been WrestleMania material and left a lot of fans wondering why it wasn’t. WWE has treated us to a great rivalry on TV and backed it up with a solid storyline.
