The night didn’t go quite as planned for Sheamus, who had aimed to walk out of the Elimination Chamber as WWE Champion. Instead, he fell short of the goal towards the end despite being the last entrant into the fight.

‘The Celtic Warrior’ went into the event with the hottest momentum. He managed to win the gauntlet match on the latest episode of Monday Night Raw, becoming one of the few men to pin Drew McIntyre during his run as WWE Champion.

By winning this, he ensured his advantage as the last man to enter the Elimination Chamber match. The fight involved Sheamus, Randy Orton, Kofi Kingston, Jeff Hardy, AJ Styles, and Drew McIntyre defending his title.

All the competitors were former WWE Champions and aimed to win the precious belt once more. Kofi eliminated Randy Orton early on in the match, disappointingly ending his involvement in the outcome.

Shortly after, Kofi and Jeff Hardy were also eliminated, leaving the title race wide open between Styles and Sheamus. ‘The Celtic Warrior’ failed to eliminate the final obstacle and lost out to AJ Styles.

He feels that WWE placed these obstacles in front of him because he was the only one capable of beating McIntyre. Sheamus will, however, have to wait a lot longer since the storyline has been cut out from under him.

Drew McIntyre had more things to worry about than Sheamus

Drew McIntyre defended his title successfully but was then attacked by Bobby Lashley out of nowhere and left powerless. The Miz then came rushing in to cash in in his Money in the Bank contract.

‘The Awesome One’ managed to pin McIntyre and clinch the WWE Championship, winning the title for the second time in his career in the same fashion as he did a decade ago.

Despite his loss inside the Chamber, Sheamus certainly does deserve another title run. His work ethic has been outstanding and there must be something planned out for him.

Now that The Miz is WWE Champion, he will be heading into WrestleMania. Sheamus can find a way to him unless he focuses his attention on something else. Maybe he can switch back to SmackDown and team up with Sami Zayn, the two could form a quirky WWE conspiracy team.
