The WWE Universe exploded when Carlito made the much-wanted return to WWE at Royal Rumble earlier this year. After being away for too long, popular demand from fans prompted WWE to call him back as a wildcard entry for the event.

Fans were even more excited when ‘Caribbean Cool’ showed up on Raw the next night to team up with Jeff Hardy. This meant that he may have some sort of continuing role in the company rather than just a one-off.

However, we never saw him again after that episode, and fans were left confused as to what exactly happened to him. Although a return to the WWE ring may be a long shot for the former United States Champion, Carlito revealed that he won’t turn down a training role in the company should it come his way.

“A producer role or a trainer role. All of that kind of sounds intriguing. I’m willing to listen to whatever at this point, but I think those would be interesting helping out the younger guys and help them develop, which would be something new for me,” he said, speaking on The Angle Podcast.

Carlito had an interesting stint in WWE and made his debut by beating John Cena, who was still a rising star at the time. However, his stint in the company was plagued with controversy. He was released in 2010 due to his “first violation of the WWE Wellness Program and his subsequent refusal to attend a rehabilitation facility,” as mentioned in the report.

Although fans wanted him to return full-time at least for a final run, Carlito explained yet again that he was only booked for the Royal Rumble match and the following episode of Raw.

“It was just the Rumble and I think the day before the Rumble they asked if I can do Raw too and I said ‘Yeah, sure, whatever you guys need.’ That’s all we talked about. It was RAW and the Rumble. I’ve had no communication since the RAW appearance,” he confirmed. (h/t Fightful)

Fans believe Carlito will end up in Impact Wrestling or AEW, should they choose to offer him a contract. However, as of now, he continues being ‘Caribbean Cool’ until someone decides they want an apple spit in their face.
