Before all this started, The Rock’s journey began with WWF as Rocky Maivia. Working his way up the cards, he finally earned a title shot in 1998 at Survivor Series.
He was booked to win the WWF Championship. This would later go down as the defining point in the pathway of his career and life. While a lot of fans loved “The Brahma Bull” by then, the WWE locker room was particularly harsh to him.

In a recent interview on WWE Network’s Meeting The Undertaker special documentary, “The People’s Champion” revealed some shocking news on the months before his title match in 1998.
“This is stuff I’ve never shared but I do want to share it because it’s important,” admitted The Rock. “When I started to make the move [up the card] and word started to get around that the office was priming me for a WWE Championship run, there were a handful of guys in the business at the time who did everything they could to stop that run from happening.”
For the sake of discretion, Dwayne Johnson did not reveal the names of those that particularly nagged him. However, the job was finished by the man who is never afraid to speak his mind.
Bret Hart revealed who tried to push The Rock out

In Episode 15 of Confessions Of The Hitman, WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart revealed the group that tried their best to push The Rock out of the way.
“A lot of the same guys who had a problem with Rock were the same guys that were all involved in the Screwjob with me,” revealed Hart, “so I had the same dislike for the same petty bullsh*t that these guys were all about.”

This is a direct hit at WWE legend Shawn Michaels. HBK was in on the controversial decision at Montreal at SummerSlam 1998. Furthermore, Hart revealed another big name.
“Triple H was the same. He was always out to get The Rock. Shawn was out to get him and they just worked on him, and worked on him, and worked on him,” revealed Hart. “I’m so glad he overcame their petty bullsh*t.”

It’s certainly a good thing he didn’t buckle under the locker room pressure. If he did, WWE would never have had that peak in the years around 2000. The company also would have lost its greatest showman to possibly WCW.
