Drew McIntyre was betrayed two weeks ago on Raw, when his best friend Sheamus blindsided him with a thunderous Brogue Kick, confirming his true intentions which were all on the WWE Championship.
While many understand that the storyline for this rivalry goes back to a decade ago during McIntyre’s first run in WWE, the Champion has reminded us that it goes back beyond even that.
In a recent post on Instagram, ‘The Scottish Psychopath’ shared a picture of a very young Sheamus holding a title in front of him as they prepare for a feud.

This goes back to both Superstars’ indie days, and it shows just how deep-rooted the rivalry really is. Given the long relationship between the two, it has the potential to be the biggest feud on Raw.
Sheamus has always been by Drew’s side and the two have worked clinically whenever paired. ‘The Celtic Warrior’ even gifted Drew McIntyre his iconic Claymore Sword on Raw to boost his spirit.

All this clubbed together is what makes his betrayal so heartbreaking. Although it doesn’t measure up to the other major betrayals, it is one that certainly needs more attention.
Drew realized the hard way that a King has no friends, and he must now prepare for battle from every front on Sunday, as he enters the Elimination Chamber.

The lion enters the cage with hungry competitors staring at him from all around and the only way out is by besting them all. It will be a true test of endurance for the Champion, and he will go in with his A-game.
Sheamus feels that his time has come for another title-run
Sheamus has not been WWE Champion for nearly a decade now. His last run was one of the most dominant ones, and he even managed to beat a prime John Cena to get to the gold.

That very same Sheamus seems to be back now and he is hungry for the title again. He feels that his work has gone unnoticed and wants a shot again.
Rightfully so, ‘The Celtic Warrior’ deserves another title dish and is fitting extremely well into the progression of his heel role. We are yet to see what comes of it at Elimination Chamber on Sunday.
