Night 2 of WrestleMania 37 continued to surprise as Sheamus managed to dethrone ‘The Bro’ Matt Riddle to win the WWE United States Championship for the third time in his illustrious career. The match, expected to be brutal, delivered on every expectation and managed to bring out the best in both stars.

Sheamus showed us the grit he always had and ran over Riddle with his brute strength. However, the latter managed to counter it with his superior aerial work and flexibility in the ring.

Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough for the experienced Irishman who managed to floor Riddle with a devastating Brogue Kick, catching the Champion mid-air. Sheamus went on to win by pinfall and claimed the gold, ending a long series of losses with the ultimate win.

‘The Bro’ lost but was also snagged hard by that kick. Blood was seen trickling out of his mouth which suggests that he did get hurt during that kick. Sheamus’ kick may have caught him with too much of an impact.

‘The Celtic Warrior’ walked away as champion and did the job efficiently. Although, we will have to wait for further updates on a possible jaw injury on Riddle. We cannot determine as of now, whether the bleeding is internal or if there was a cut to the face.

WWE should come out with an update in the hours after WrestleMania, but it doesn’t look like anything serious will hamper Riddle, and we should see him on the next episode of Raw.

Sheamus ended his losing streak with victory over Riddle

Sheamus has been feuding with different Superstars throughout the year but has never managed to come out on top in any of the feuds. His failure on SmackDown was accentuated with a loss against Jeff Hardy, shortly after which he moved to the red brand.

There, his most notable accomplishment was actually beating Drew McIntyre when he was WWE Champion. Unfortunately, the Irishman couldn’t pull things his way and suffered a decisive defeat to McIntyre at Fastlane.

Picking Matt Riddle was the perfect option for him to get back on the horse, and he pretty much dominated the match in spite of some spirited moments on Riddle’s part.

‘The Celtic Warrior’ did deliver an initial Brogue Kick to which Riddle kicked out but couldn’t withstand the relentless aggression that followed. ‘The Bro’ will certainly come back for his title, but for now, he has to take the defeat.
