John Cena was certainly a poster boy for WWE for over a decade. Since his Hollywood career took off fans have seen his WWE appearances reduced. Recently, the 46-year-old was spotted with a cast on his arm in a video on social media. Well, that was because he had recently undergone surgery. It all happened after his recent WWE run.

But did you know? This was not the only major injury sustained by the 16-time world champion. Other than this, he also witnessed some brutal injuries in the past. So what were those injuries? Let’s find out.

The torn pectoral muscle was the first injury of John Cena

The torn pectoral muscle was sustained by Cena in 2007, and it was his first major injury in WWE. The injury looked very serious since his pectoral muscle was torn completely off the bone.

The WWE announced that it would take a minimum of six months for Cena to return to the ring, but surprisingly, The Cenation Leader came back at the 2008 Royal Rumble and won the match.

A herniated disc in his neck during the 2008 SummerSlam

One of the unexpected yet painful injuries was when John Cena witnessed a herniated disc in his neck during the 2008 SummerSlam during a match against Batista.

But Cena didn’t choose a long method to get that fixed. He underwent a fusion surgery with Dr. Joseph Maroon following the injury so that he could return just two months later. He then returned and defeated Chris Jericho at that year’s Survivor Series, holding his World Heavyweight strap.

Another arm injury in 2012

The arm injury sustained by Cena at Night of Champions 2012 was also one of his most brutal sufferings. It was found that the bone chips had to be removed from his elbow, which took around 2 months back then. Well, with his never-give-up attitude, Cena returned to the ring at the 2012 Survivor Series.

However, he lost in that triple-threat match against Ryback and CM Punk. thanks to interference by the debuting Shield.

A torn tricep was also sustained by Cena

John Cena certainly had mastery in overturning the tables. After his loss against Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam 2013, Cena sustained a torn triceps. He then went away from the in-ring action in order to repair the damages.

And yet again, he returned before what was speculated back then. As the fans saw him return to that year’s Hell in a Cell, after the rehab, he battled and defeated Alberto Del Rio to win the World Heavyweight title.

An Achilles tendon in 2013

No one can forget Cena’s grand victory over The Rock at WrestleMania 29. However, after winning the headliner and the WWE Championship, Cena sustained another injury in the form of an Achilles tendon. This happened during his match against Ryback on the European Tour.

But as the fans know him because of his die-hard attitude, he returned soon after and defended his title against Ryback at Extreme Rules.

An infamous broken nose

This injury was also one of the most graphic of all. Most of the fans remember that Cena suffered a legitimate broken nose during his United States title defense against Seth Rollins. However, it only took him 2 weeks to recover.

After his return, he was locked to face Rollins in a winner-take-all match for the WWE and United States Championship at SummerSlam. However, he incurred yet another loss in that event.

His 2016 shoulder injury

Another major injury that was sustained by The Champ was a shoulder injury in January 2016. Due to his surgery, the company announced that his return will be uncertain, and there is no set date for it.

However, Cena being Cena, made his shocking return at WrestleMania 32 and shocked the entire WWE universe as nobody expected him to show up.
