Chelsea Green never got off to a good start in WWE. While her NXT run was promising, the main roster treated her harshly. She suffered an injury in her first match on SmackDown, and her release came soon after she was cleared. However, there’s a lot more to her WWE career than what we’ve seen.

WWE released a bunch of talent as a part of their post WrestleMania budget cuts. Among them were Chelsea Green, Samoa Joe, and Mickie James. All three Superstars wanted to wrestle, but WWE either didn’t have a spot for them or wouldn’t clear them.

Mickie James was one cornerstone of the women’s division and a genuine trailblazer. In an interview with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Wrestling, Chelsea Green provided details on a storyline with Mickie James that WWE canceled for no reason.

“I was on my way to Epcot one day, and I got a call saying we’re gonna go ahead with this storyline of you basically being the Mickie James to Mickie James. And Mickie will be the Trish. And I was so in love with that. You know, Mickie and I; she’s always been such a great mentor to the locker room. So to then be under, like a legend, was going to be insane.

“This is where I shine, being crazy. And like acting and these kinds of storylines; this was the perfect storyline to show the hot mess and to show WWE a new side of the hot mess. You know, it doesn’t have to be cheesy and over the top. It can be creepy and it can be relatable and it can be your crazy ex-girlfriend or your crazy best friend.”

Feuding with Mickie James would’ve changed Chelsea’s career for the better. Unfortunately, WWE pulled the rug out from underneath her.

“I think both Mickie and I were going a million miles a minute. Like we kept calling each other and spit-balling off each other. So that next day was when we were gonna film it, and we did film a match. And you know, it was live to TV so we tape it in the day and it goes, and they edit it and go straight onto TV that night, and it did not air.”
