Ric Flair Explains His Tweet Denouncing Chris Jericho as the GOAT: “You Cannot Compare Chris or Anybody Else”

Over the years, there have been plenty of debates between professional wrestling fans regarding who is the G.O.A.T or greatest of all time in professional wrestling. Recently, Ric Flair took to social media to put forward his disagreement after coming across an opinion piece that suggested Chris Jericho is the current G.O.A.T of professional wrestling.

Addressing this issue during the recent episode of Ric Flair WOOOOO Nation Uncensored Podcast, Mark Madden asked the WWE legend about this matter.

In reply to this, Ric Flair said, “You just can’t take my name off. So, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, and Steamboat [Ricky Steamboat] right, there’s nobody, not just Chris that ever gonna be one of them. Nobody. Not me. I was never as technically gifted as any of them.”

“You cannot compare Chris or anybody else. It’s nothing personal against Chris. I have been there. I think he’s great. This is nothing against Chris Jericho. But he nor me, nor a lot of people are going to be Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart or Ricky Steamboat,” he added.

Is Chris Jericho still wrestling?

Chris Jericho is still going strong inside the squared circle. In 2019, Chris Jericho signed with AEW. Not only did he sign for AEW, but he also became the inaugural AEW World Champion.

Jericho defeated Kenny Omega at the AEW Double or Nothing PPV and Adam Page at the AEW All Out PPV in 2019 for the title.

Jericho made successful title defenses against Darby Allin, Cody Rhodes, and Scorpio Sky. But his title reign lasted for 182 days as he got defeated by Jon Moxley at AEW Revolution PPV in 2020.

The WWE legend is currently the leader of the professional wrestling stable ‘The Inner Circle.’ Previously, Jericho has worked in WWE and WCW.

During his tenure with WWE, Jericho won the World Heavyweight Championship thrice. He also won the WWE United States Championship twice and the WWF/WWE Intercontinental Championship nine times.
