Ric Flair’s Selfless Act for The Undertaker Screams Volumes of His Character

For two consecutive years (2021 and 2022), The Undertaker did not have a match at WrestleMania. But prior to his in-ring retirement, he competed in many matches at The Grandest Stage of Them All.

In 2008, He fought against Edge in the last match of WrestleMania 24. However, had it not been for Ric Flair, Edge and ‘The Phenom’ would not have headlined WWE WrestleMania 24.

Ric Flair had his last WWE match on that night against Shawn Michaels. According to Ric Flair, he and Michaels rejected the opportunity to main event WWE WrestleMania 24.

During a recent episode of the To be The Man podcast, Ric Flair talked about this incident.

He revealed why he rejected the opportunity to have his last WWE match in the main event of WrestleMania 24.

Flair said, “They actually asked me if I wanted to go last in Orlando and I said, ‘Absolutely not.'”

“I loved all the attention I was getting. But I wasn’t going to ask the World Champion, whoever it was at that time, to go over and say, ‘Hey, thank you for this,” the WWE legend added.

The Undertaker recently followed in the footsteps of Edge, Ric Flair, and Shawn Michaels.

Prior to this year’s WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, Flair, Edge, and Michaels had already been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. But this year, The Undertaker also got inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

What happened with The Undertaker and Ric Flair at WrestleMania 24?

While The Undertaker became a champion, Ric Flair suffered defeat in a Career Threatening match against Shawn Michaels.

Flair and Michaels gave the fans a very entertaining match as they battled for over 20 minutes. But in the end, The Heartbreak Kid got the victory over Flair.

Coming to The Undertaker’s match now. The Undertaker battled Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE WrestleMania 24.

The Phenom‘ took the World Heavyweight Championship away from Edge by making Edge submit to his Hell’s Gate submission move.
