As a joint record holder of 16 world titles, Ric Flair is one of the most decorated pro wrestlers of all time. He is one of the few Golden Era wrestlers to have competed inside the ring in the eras that followed. In fact, Flair was part of the heel stable, Evolution, when Brock Lesnar was making inroads in WWE. Flair went on to wrestle for another two decades before hanging up his boots in 2022.

There is no doubt that the famed wrestler knows a thing or two about modern wrestling and wrestlers. He has seen some current superstars grow from their starting days in the Stamford-based promotion, including the likes of The Beast Incarnate and his OVW 4 colleague John Cena. Flair reckons the former UFC Heavyweight Champion possesses the qualities of another WWE legend, who passed away in 2019.

While wrestlers have been known to damage properties, and injure opponents backstage for the sake of kayfabe, Harley Race once pulled out a real gun and threatened to blow off Hulk Hogan’s kneecaps. The incident took place in the 80s.

According to people privy to the incident, Race was mad at Vince McMahon making WWE (then WWF) a national promotion. He wanted to deal with its mega star- Hulk Hogan. During one of their matches, Race went to the arena and eventually met his target.

The Hulkster was inside the toilet, hoping to avoid the interaction. But it happened. “…I pulled my pants up, but didn’t wipe my rear end, just blowing out of the bathroom to find him [Harley Race], and he was standing right there with a gun in his hand,” Hogan later narrated the event. Fortunately for him and the company, Race decided to work with the Hulkster instead. “He scared the hell out of me,” Hogan said.
