WWE brought the first NXT on Tuesday Nights this week, and it was one exciting show from top to bottom. While we saw a new Cruiserweight champion and a long-awaited debut, we also saw one of NXT’s top stars – Roderick Strong quit the brand. But why? What’s next? Let’s find out.

Roderick Strong leaving NXT for the main roster?

In a backstage segment on NXT this week, William Regal entered his office to find Roderick Strong waiting there alongside his wife, Marina Shafir. Mr. Regal apologized for being late, citing the meeting was pre-planned. Strong broke the silence by handing some papers to Mr. Regal and said, “Done.”

William Regal asked Roddy if he’s sure about this. Roddy looked over to Marina Shafir and then nodded his head. Regal said although he and the Undisputed Era were trouble, he knows Roddy is a true professional. He added Roddy can come back to NXT whenever he wants. The duo shook hands, and that was that.

This is not a sudden move from Roderick Strong, who hinted at leaving NXT a couple of weeks ago. If you don’t remember, let us refresh your memory. Two weeks ago, Roderick Strong defeated Cameron Grimes on NXT. In a backstage interview following the match, he was asked what’s next for him, and that’s when he said he was done.

Nobody expected Roddy to leave NXT this way, but whatever happened between The Undisputed Era in these past few months has definitely had a powerful impact on him. After all, these were four friends that became blood brothers. Hence, it wasn’t a faction breaking up; it was a brotherhood that broke up.

What’s next for ‘The Messiah of the Backbreaker?’

Now that Roddy has left the black and gold brand, it’s highly possible we could see him appear on Raw or SmackDown in the weeks to come. Daniel Bryan and Roderick Strong go back a long way to their ROH days, so a program between the two on SmackDown would be a perfect one to catapult Strong on the main roster.

We saw a small highlight of what Roderick Strong and Daniel Bryan can bring to the table against each other at the Greatest Royal Rumble in 2018. However, it was just a small face-off. A legit feud between the two would give us excellent promos and even more excellent matches.
