Roman Reigns took a shot at Sami Zayn after the latter boasted about his merchandise sales earlier in the day.

Sami Zayn’s t-shirt debuted on the WWE shop and he wanted others to know that it was #2 in merchandise sales, just behind WWE’s franchise player Roman Reigns. However, he fell victim to the sharp words of the WWE Universal Champion.

Reigns clarified that if Zayn wants to be completely honest, then he should refer to him as the chief.

When did Roman Reigns become ‘The Tribal Chief’?

Roman Reigns is particular about being ‘The Tribal Chief’ and he doesn’t appreciate even slight disrespect from the SmackDown roster.

He adopted this moniker after Paul Heyman used it to describe him during his feud with cousin Jey Uso. This was the first major storyline WWE involved him in when he returned at SummerSlam 2020. This storyline was WWE’s way of executing his transition from babyface to heel.

Best examples of his heel moments since SummerSlam 2020

He entered a triple threat match against Braun Strowman and ‘The Fiend’ at the last moment. Strowman and Fiend fought for the majority of the match, and Reigns swooped in to win the match and become the Universal Champion.

During his feud with Jey Uso, he brutally beat him up even though they are family. He did not shy away from showing Uso that he is always going to be above him.

It reached a point where Jimmy Uso had to interfere to save him. This feud ended when Jey Uso finally accepted Roman Reigns as ‘The Tribal Chief’.

In a match against Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns allowed Uso to get beat up first. He intervened when Owens almost won the match. After decimating Owens, he attacked Uso with a chair for letting him down.

In another match against Owens, Roman Reigns used Jey Uso to win. Uso interfered and handcuffed Owens to the steel cage, which allowed Reigns to secure the victory.

The fact that at every turn he will sacrifice family, use crooked methods, and take shots at honesty shows that Roman Reigns has mastered the art of being a heel in WWE.
