It is sometimes said that some top-tier professional wrestling stars have had to go through situations that might seem embarrassing but were part of their path to stardom. That could be applied to the current Intercontinental Champion who earned respect in the WWE locker room after his WrestleMania 38 match.

On that occasion, former Bloodline member Sami Zayn faced Johnny Knoxville in an Anything Goes Match. Where all kinds of bizarre weapons were used. And it even had the participation of different members of the Jackass staff. Zayn lost the match after falling prey to a giant mousetrap. And it seems like Zayn’s past is back to haunt him again as Knoxville recently dissed the IC Champion. Thus prompting a reply from the man who dethroned the ring general.

Sami Zayn reacts to Knoxville’s diss

Johnny Knoxville recently sat with Howie Mandell for an interview where the Jack*ss star was asked about his return to the squared circle again. But rather than providing a straight answer, Knoxville decided it was better to take a shot at Zayn and his win over the current Intercontinental Champion. He said that he would return to the ring to defeat Zayn all over again. “Oh you mean smash that low down and dirty Sami Zayn in his face again. I would love to. Anytime, Anytime, WWE and Sami Zayn, I would love to smash your face in again. I know he’s a good guy now. Everyone says he’s a good guy, but I’m like ‘oh please’.” This prompted a reply from Zayn who simply retweeted the clip and called Knoxville ‘Unhealthy’. As Zayn tweeted, “Johnny Knoxville is a deeply unhealthy man.”

Well, it would be fun to witness the two fight again. Especially after their first fight which surely was different than the usual matches we get at the Showcase of the Immortals. And in case you missed arguably the weirdest stipulation matches in WWE history, here’s a brief recap.

One of the weirdest matches in WrestleMania history

This was the third matchup of WWE’s biggest day of the year in Dallas, Texas. Zayn quickly applied his Helluva Kick and took the celebrity ringside. However, Knoxville countered with a fire extinguisher to begin the ultra-violent action. Other Jackass members such as Party Boy and Wee-Man showed up to help their partner, but Zayn managed to get rid of both of them.

To neutralize “The Critic of Critics,” Knoxville used tricks such as a bowling ball, pyrotechnics, and a mechanical leg and hand, all traditional to his show. In the final moments of the match, the entire Jackass team trapped Sami Zayn in a giant mousetrap, allowing Knoxville to make the count of three and take the win.
