Ronda Rousey Did Not Pull Off a Conor McGregor but She Did Pull Off an Irish Move On Live Television

Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor are two of the biggest names in UFC’s history. And it comes as no surprise that both appreciate the other’s contribution to the sport. As they say, there’s no better appreciation than imitation. Giving a nod to someone else’s work by doing the exact same thing has been done before. But this time, fans have it confused with who Ronda is imitating in her most recent appearance on WWE SmackDown.

We all remember the iconic match between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather in the summer of 2017 and the build around it. One of the defining moments was when McGregor took out cash from his bag, which fans are pointing to as similar to Rousey’s actions this past Friday. But wrestling fans will remember that Rousey was actually imitating her long-time rival, Becky Lynch.

In a storyline during her Raw Women’s Championship, Becky Lynch was also fined. On an episode of Monday Night Raw, she came to the ring carrying a shopping bag. And in front of the WWE fans, Lynch unloaded a full bag of money in order to show the company who suspended her.

And after three years, Ronda did the same thing last Friday. Coming out before the scheduled Liv Morgan and Shayna Baszler segment, Rousey was mad about the decision taken against her at SummerSlam. She came down to the ring from the audience’s area and entered the ring with a bag full of money to pay the hefty fine.

When this was pointed out by a fan on Twitter, Becky Lynch promptly trolled her WrestleMania 38 opponent on Twitter with the following tweet:

The move cemented Rousey’s turn to the heel side. This will eventually result in a match with Morgan or Baszler when Ronda Rousey returns to TV. It will also be interesting to see if Rousey gets her revenge or a fated battle with her long-time friend. It all comes down to who wins the title match at Clash at the Castle on September 3rd.
