CM Punk came back to WWE after years of distance from the promotion. Weeks after his official return, he finally stepped inside the ring at Royal Rumble for all the fans to see. Little did we know that “The Best in the World” would be parting ways again as he injured his right tricep in a spot at the first PLE of the year.

To everyone’s disappointment, Punk will now have to recover for at least 8 to 9 months before entering the squared circle again. While the situation is certainly difficult for his fans, Punk isn’t having fun either.

CM Punk is having a hard time staying positive

The men’s Elimination Chamber event is going to decide which out of the six contenders will compete against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40 for his World Heavyweight Championship. Since Punk was feuding with The Aerialist before his injury hiatus, WWE was planning to crown him the winner for men’s EC this year. This would have led to the two real-life rivals facing each other in a title bout at WM 40.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the decision had to be altered, but CM Punk can’t accept his current state of mind. In his recent Instagram story that he uploaded just a few hours before the PLE in Perth, Punk says, “Had a rough day mentally today. My heart and spirit are in Perth. Just a hard day staying positive and nobody wishes I was there performing for the fans more than me. Enjoy the show, appreciate you all.”
