Beth Phoenix has been part of the pro wrestling industry for quite some time. After being a successful wrestler for a long time, the Hall of Famer left the in-ring action to eventually become a commentator for the NXT brand. However, she also left this role after some time. The legendary female wrestler recently talked about this abrupt end to her commentary career.

Phoenix has always been the person to prioritize her family over anything else. Although she has been amazingly passionate about her work, she never waited around whenever her family needed her.

Beth Phoenix’s decision to end her commentary career because of her family

After being a successful wrestler for a long time, Phoenix left the company. Later, she agreed to an off-stage contract with the NXT brand. In the year 2019, fans saw her begin her career as a commentator for NXT. This was followed by her eventual retirement in 2021.

For the most part, the reasons were unknown. However, the former commentator recently appeared on a podcast and mentioned the story behind this quitting.

The former Women’s Champion started by saying, “when I was traveling every week, it built up a lot of anxiety in the kids.” This was the primary reason for her leaving the job.

However, she further explained in the podcast, “I ended up leaving the full-time job because Ruby asked Santa Claus if Mommy could stay home… She didn’t ask for a toy. She sat on Santa’s lap and said, ‘I want my mommy to stay home.’” This caused the mother inside the tough lady to melt and change the course of her life. She realized that her daughter needed her and decided to leave the world of wrestling for her.

Beth Phoenix and her current WWE run

Although Phoenix stayed away from the ring largely making only sporadic appearances, last saw her joining WWE programming as a performer for an extended run.

She fell victim to a vicious assault from The Judgement Day member Rhea Ripley at Extreme Rules but bounced back to team up with her husband Edge to defeat Finn Balor and Ripley at Elimination Chamber last month.

There are no upcoming wrestling plans for Phoenix yet. However, she could be at the side of her husband Edge in his match against Finn Balor match at WrestleMania 39.

Whether she will make a return as a commentator is still unclear. But fans are still hopeful for her in-ring return.
