Former WWE SmackDown Women’s champion Sasha Banks has been ruled out from the upcoming WWE Royal Rumble PPV because of an ankle injury.

The company itself announced the news that ‘The Boss’ will be out of action for nearly six to eight weeks. The former champ suffered the injury at a live event in Fayetteville, North Carolina, last Sunday.

After suffering the injury at the live event, Banks consulted a doctor where an MRI scan revealed that she has suffered from a bruised calcaneus bone and will be out of action for a while.

The injury occurred when she was facing the reigning WWE SmackDown Women’s champion, Charlotte Flair, at the event. During the match, ‘The Queen’ delivered the over-the-knee backbreaker to Sasha, which broke the bone. Banks was able to finish the match but was soon rushed to an immediate medical facility.

After the injury, ‘The Boss’ took to her Twitter handle and wrote that she will come back for “everything”.

Will Sasha Banks win a title soon?

By “soon” we mean whenever she comes back to the WWE after her injury. The past few months have been rough for the former champ as she was pulled from the SummerSlam PPV for unknown reasons. At SummerSlam, she was set to face Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s championship. However, it never happened.

The Boss has been without a title for a while now and was dangling around in the upper mid-card for a while before she got injured. Now, with this time off, Banks could restructure her strategies to come back stronger.

Ever since losing the title against Bianca, ‘The Boss’ failed to make a major impact on the WWE women’s roster. This year’s Royal Rumble would have been a perfect PPV to give Banks a much-needed push.

Furthermore, her heel character went stale pretty quickly, and the fans paid more attention to Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch. However, a babyface turn against a heel Charlotte Flair could do wonders for the former champion and establish her back in the main event spot.
