WWE’s flagship premium live event Royal Rumble is just two weeks away from now. Ahead of the Rumble, a lot of things went down on last week’s episode of Monday Night Raw. Fans saw many heated segments on the show that left them wanting for more. But it looks like the fun is just getting started. This week’s episode of the red brand will be held at Simmons Bank Arena in North Little Rock, Arkansas. And let’s just say the audience in attendance will be in for a thrilling ride.

Cody Rhodes opens the show

Last week, fans saw Drew McIntyre opening the show. He was later accompanied by CM Punk and the two exchanged a few words. During that exchange, Punk had called out both Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. This week it would be interesting to see what The American Nightmare has to say about his name being taken last week. Apart from that, it would be the first time he will be opening the show since Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jinder Mahal returned. So the chances are high that fans might get to see some drama during the opening segment of tonight’s Raw.

Seth Rollins to face a foe like no other

Since he was crowned the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins has faced many adversaries who tried to snatch his title belt away from him. While he has successfully defeated Shinsuke Nakamura and Drew McIntyre to defend his title, he will be facing the Modern-Day Maharaja Jinder Mahal this week. What’s interesting to note is that the two share a long history. Both Rollins and Mahal were in the finals to be the first WWE NXT Champion back in 2012.

While Mahal gave him a tough fight, Rollins was able to defeat him and secure his first major championship belt. But let’s not forget it was almost a decade ago. Now fans are aware of the back injury that Rollins has. While he has successfully defended his title with an injured back, Mahal, who towers at 1.96 meters could be a tough competition. However, as many have their eyes on his title, someone like Drew McIntyre or even CM Punk might come in to interrupt the match, either helping Rollins win or disqualifying the match entirely due to interruption.

Damian Priest might cash in the bag

Now known as Senor Money in the Bank, Damian Priest has been holding on to that bag for almost a year now. Now ahead of Royal Rumble, chances of him cashing in the bag are quite likely. He was previously seen doing so on various occasions notably during Seth Rollins’s title defenses. While chances of Jinder Mahal pinning and winning the World Heavyweight Championship title are quite unlikely, fans might get to see Priest entering the ring to cash in his bag after Rollins defeats Mahal.

However, there could be one more interesting twist ahead of the Rumble. If the Archer of Infamy does come in to cash his bag, other stars such as CM Punk and Drew McIntyre might object. This might lead to a triple-threat match between the three. Another possibility could be that Raw might follow SmackDown’s suit. At SmackDown, Nick Aldis has announced a Fatal-4-Way match between Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, LA Knight, and AJ Styles as the three wanted to dethrone Reigns as the Undisputed Champion. It could be possible that fans might get to see two Fatal-4-Way matches at the 2024 Royal Rumble.

Gunther returns

The reigning Intercontinental Champion Gunther will be returning to television after almost a month now. The last time he was seen on television was on the December 18, 2023, episode of Raw where he had accepted The Miz’s challenge for the Intercontinental Championship. After effortlessly defending his title, he took some time off as he welcomed his first child with his partner Jinny Sandhu. While there are no major announcements about him by WWE, let’s hope The Imperium is happy to see him back.

DIY vs Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh

Last week fans saw #DIY’s Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa face off against the Undisputed Tag Team Champions of WWE, Damian Priest and Finn Balor for a non-title match. The two did put up a good match and Ciampa was able to pin Balor to secure the win. Considering their current run at Raw, the two may be able to defeat Mysterio and McDonagh. Also considering the history of McDonagh and Mysterio, fans are aware that the two are not good tag team players. So the possibility of the two losing the match is quite likely.

R-Truth & The Miz VS Damian Priest & Finn Balor

Lately, R-Truth has become a mainstay of Raw as he has been putting in a lot of effort to become a part of The Judgment Day. Fans have been loving his segments and this has led to some funny and interesting moments. Last week, fans saw R-Truth face off against JD McDonagh in a “Loser Leaves Judgment Day” match. While R-Truth won the match, he is still not accepted as a member of The Judgment Day.

One take at a time

For me pro wrestling has two things that I like the most, storytelling and fighting. Let?s just say movies are failing to keep me entertained in those departments. I grew up watching WWF and not WWE and any hardcore fan will agree that the two are not the same, but I love both iterations.
